The Red Eagles Back at Top with Comfortable 4-0 Win

Alahly, Egyptian Premier League, Football

Al Ahly achieved a 4-0 win on Tuesday night over Misr Lel Makkasa at Al Ahly WE Al Salam Stadium and we are now back to the top of the standings with 22 points from 8 matches.

Luis Miquissone’s brace and two goals from Hussein El Shahat and Ziad Tarek secured a comfortable victory for the Red Eagles.

Mohamed El Shenawy celebrated his return to action with another clean sheet after a solid performance from our defenders who did not allow much danger from the opponents.

First Half

Our players had a very strong start to the game and we had an early chance to open the score with Miquissone’s header that went over the bar.

El Shahat received the ball at the left flank, cut inside and dribbled two defenders before passing the ball to Mohamed Magdy Afsha who fired a shot, but Misr Lel Makkasa’s goalkeeper was in the right place to stop the ball.

In the space of one minute we were leading with two goals thanks to two magic touches from Miquissone.

The Mozambican winger opened his account for the Red Eagles with a strong shot from the edge of the box that went past the goalkeeper.

We did not have time to celebrate as the Mozambican magician ran behind the defense to receive a beautiful pass from Hamdy Fathy and then chipped it over the goalkeeper to double our lead.

In the 35th minute, Misr Lel Makkasa had their first threat in the game with a powerful strike from their Nigerian striker, Rashid Ahmed, but his effort hit the bar.

Four minutes before the final whistle, we had a double chance to add the third goal, but two shots from El Shahat and Afsha were saved by the goalkeeper.

Two minutes later, the efforts of El Shahat and Afsha paid off. Afsha received the ball and sent a beautiful ground pass between the two defenders, finding El Shahat who put the ball in the back of the net.

Second Half

Aliou Dieng has the chance to add the fourth goal in the opening minutes of the second half, but his shot was saved by the goalkeeper.

Mosimane made some changes in the first 25 minutes of the second half as Amr El Soulia, Hossam Hassan, and Ahmed Abdelkader replaced Hamdy Fathy, Mohamed Sherif, and Miquissone.

We had the chance to add another goal from a perfect counter-attack. Hossam Hassan met a beautiful cross from Afsha with a staggering first-time shot, but the goalkeeper was in the right place again to stop the ball.

Afsha and El Shahat were subbed off in the last five minutes of the match allowing Mohamed Mahmoud and Ziad Tarek to take part in the game.

From his first touch, Ziad scored his debut goal in the league for the Red Eagles with a beautiful shot to make the score 4-0.

We were awarded a penalty in the last minute of the game, but the referee canceled it after reviewing the VAR.

The game ended with a 4-0 win for the Red Eagles, who will be back to CAF Champions League competition on Saturday in an exciting encounter against Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa.
